Firefighters put out motorbike fire in Newton-le-Willows | St Helens Star

FIRE crews were called to a motorbike on fire on a footpath under a railway track in the early hours.

Firefighters attended the incident, close to Mesnes Park, in Newton-le-Willows during the night.

A motorbike was found to be on fire and a hose reel jet was used to extinguish the flames.

A spokeswoman said: "Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to Acorn Street, Newton-le-Willows in the early hours of Friday, July 29.

"Crews were called shortly after 1.46am. One fire engine attended.

"On arrival, crews found one motorbike involved in fire on the footpath under the railway track to the rear of Acorn Street.

"Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The fire had been extinguished by 2.08am.

"Fire crews left the scene at 2.17am."

Merseyside Police also attended the incident.
